Alistair Veen | Managing Partner
Alistair’s first foray into hospitality at the age of 15 ended up as his lifelong calling. Great wine and amazing food have guided him around the world whether it is for work or for play. Alistair trained as a chef and achieved his Red Seal in 2006, opened his restaurant in 2007 and does his best to delight guests every chance he has to be in service. As a sommelier, Alistair ascended to the height of Best Sommelier in BC in 2016 and went as far as taking the Master Sommelier Exam in 2019. (He has to do that again BTW) He joined the team at JoieFarm in August 2021 as a partner and looks forward to every chance he has to be in the vineyards. He is married to the love of his life, Aron, and has two amazing young children, Alex and Emily. His Siamese cat Montrachet would beg to differ over the children being amazing.
BJ Tumanut | General Manager
BJ comes to JoieFarm from an entrepreneurial background in the luxury chocolate retail business and has been active in the food and wine industry since 1999. She is spirted and energetic, while bringing a detail-oriented and highly organized approach to JoieFarm’s operations. As the General Manager, BJ’s job is to have an overall view of the many facets involved at JoieFarm, identify challenges that lie ahead, steer the company and team in a successful direction along with Alistair, and build a talented crew of hard-working, wine-loving colleagues. BJ is naturally curious and has an insatiable appetite for learning. She rejuventates her energy by spending quality time with her partner Sean and their Golden Doodle Hazel, reading, cooking, gardening, and instructing yoga classes on Sunday mornings.
Jessie Lane | Bookkeeping & Order Desk
Jessie Lane joined the JoieFarm team in May 2021, bringing her decades long administrative skills, experience, and attention to detail to the wine industry after many years in property management in Vancouver and the coast. A newcomer to the wine industry, Jessie has taken quickly to developing her tasting skills and loves to be a fly on the wall in the cellar and tasting room, chiming in as she gains confidence and expands her knowledge and palate both in the winery and in the classroom. Growing up in the Fraser Valley, Jessie has a passion for the outdoors and is a fitness fanatic. Outside of work, Jessie can be found practicing barre and yoga, jogging daily on the KVR at ungodly hours (5am…or earlier) through the warmer parts of the year, and training on her Peloton once the temperature turns frigid. When she’s not getting her fitness on, she enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Steven, and their fur baby in the form of a miniature pinscher, Dexter.
Rachelle Goudreau | Inventory & Logistics
Rachelle Goudreau comes to JoieFarm with a wealth of wine knowledge and over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry. She has held almost every possible position in restaurants including chef, pastry chef, server and sommelier. She is now drawing on her natural affinity for numbers and focusing on inventory and allocations. She loves a good spreadsheet! In her spare time Rachelle likes to bake and spoil her friends and colleagues with her treats. She is enjoying all the gorgeous scenery and outdoor activities the South Okanagan has to offer. Rachelle is a big fan of concerts and enjoys almost any live performance from music to ballet to comedy. A perfect evening is a multi-course meal at a high-end restaurant followed by a punk rock show.
